Play
Play is the energy of life laughing with life. It is the buoyancy of bubbles bursting from the water’s weight to the air to be free and merge and be one.
It is why when others laugh there is a natural urge to join in. Their laughter is a call to join in recognition of our unity and our shared love of life and of living. It transcends the conscious mind. These motives aren’t realized by the participants but, at their core, this shared laughter is like the music of Creation: our oneness dancing with itself.
That is why Play is so important. Play takes us beyond our conscious mind and into the field of oneness. We merge with the Creative Life force into realms of magic and this is the world of Spirit. Spirit is not serious. There are responsibilities in Creation but it is not without humor. You will find that the world of Spirit is full of humor and pleasure and artistry.
Do not underestimate the power of connecting with this side of life. There is a tendency to think one must muscle one’s way through life and the spiritual path – overcoming certain obstacles and proving oneself against all odds – the hero’s journey. This is a patriarchal structuring that is nothing but a fiction to Spirit.
The joy of life can lead you, lift you. The moments of pleasure and beauty are there to inspire you and ignite you. They are not a frivolity. Notice them and let their light be yours – as you are this creative life force expressing itself, too. Catalogue the beauties. Embrace and unite with the joys. They are all a reflection and a refracting of God’s light and love, seeking to delight and instruct in and through all aspects of life.
Being playful can open the door to your imagination so that you understand the messages coming from the natural world, which naturally connects with the playful and joyful side of Life. Being playful lets you realize that you are so much more than your body in this briefly worn costume but also an audience member to the play of all of Creation.
